Hello, macOS Adventurer!

If you're using a computer with macOS, this chapter will show you how to install Vim, your powerful text editor!

Step 1: Open Your Terminal

First, open your Terminal application (you can find it in Applications > Utilities, or by searching with Spotlight).

Step 2: Install Homebrew (If You Haven't Already)

Homebrew is like an app store for your Terminal on macOS. Many developers use it to easily install tools. If you already have Homebrew installed, you can skip this step!

To install Homebrew, copy and paste this command into your Terminal and press Enter:

/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)"

Follow the instructions in the Terminal. It might ask for your computer's password. Press Enter when it asks you to. It will also tell you if you need to run some extra commands after installation to make sure Homebrew works perfectly. Make sure to run those commands!

Step 3: Install Vim with Homebrew

Now that Homebrew is ready, installing Vim is super easy!

Type this command into your Terminal and press Enter:

brew install vim

Homebrew will download and install the latest version of Vim for you.

Step 4: Verify Your Installation

Let's make sure Vim is ready to go!

Type this command in your Terminal and press Enter:

vim --version

You should see lots of information about Vim, including its version number. As long as you see some text and a version, Vim is installed correctly!

Congratulations! Vim is now installed on your macOS computer. Get ready to learn its secrets!
